On October 8, 2014, CLS hosted a book talk about Islamists in power in the post-Arab Spring Middle East with Shadi Hamid, Fellow at the Brookings Institution, for a discussion of his new book Temptations of Power: Islamists and Illiberal Democracy in a New Middle East. The book analyzes what happens when previously repressed Islamist groups take power through democratic processes and govern in illiberal ways.
