SUMMARY:Decoding the Trump Indictments
DESCRIPTION:\n  \n \nFormer President Donald Trump is facing four explosive criminal prosecutions: the January 6 and classified documents cases brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith in federal court\, the election interference case in Georgia\, and the “hush money” case in New York. \n\nThe outcomes could alter American democracy for generations. A new book\, The Trump Indictments\, takes readers through the cases\, offers key context on the charges\, and analyzes the charging documents. \nOn Thursday\, March 28\, in a live in-person event at 12 p.m. at NYU Law\, Melissa Murray and Andrew Weissmann discussed their book and the historic indictments of the former president. Murray is the Frederick I. and Grace Stokes Professor of Law and faculty director of the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center at NYU Law. Weissmann\, a professor of practice at NYU Law and Faculty Co-Director of the Reiss Center\, and a legal analyst for MSNBC\, previously served as general counsel to the FBI and one of the senior prosecutors on Director Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation. \nThis event was hosted by the Brennan Center for Justice and produced in partnership with the Reiss Center on Law and Security and the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center \n\n  \nThursday\, March 28\, 2024\n12:00-1:00p.m. EST\nIn-Person Event\n40 Washington Square South\, New York\, NY 10012 \n \n \n \n \n \nBROOKE SLEZAK – Courtesy NYU PHOTO \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nAndrew Weissmann\, Professor of Practice\, NYU School of Law; Faculty Co-Director\, Reiss Center on Law and Security; Legal Analyst\, MSNBC\nMelissa Murray\, Frederick I. and Grace Stokes Professor of Law at New York University School of Law\nModerator: Michael Waldman\, President\, Brennan Center\n\n
