Mission

Sharing information. Facilitating dialogue. Asking the underlying questions.
Taking a closer look.

Founded in 2003, the Center on Law and Security is an independent, non-partisan institute committed to promoting an informed understanding of the major legal, security, and foreign policy issues that define the post-9/11 environment and the 21st century.

Through its trademark activities, the Center brings together policymakers, practitioners, scholars, journalists, lawyers, and government officials--who might not otherwise meet--to address major issues and gaps in policy discourse and ultimately, to provide concrete policy recommendations.

Local, National, and International Awareness

The Center generates local, national, and international awareness of the complex dimensions of security issues through:

Publications

The Terrorist Trial Report Card, The Torture Papers/Enemy Combatant Papers, The NYU Review of Law and Security, The Bulletin on Law and Security, and numerous books address current topics.
